Sustainable materials & transparent practices

  • Glassine is a compressed paper with transparent qualities used to protect prints and other paper goods. It’s water resistant, curbside recyclable, and naturally biodegradable. It is a good protective alternative to cellophane.

  • Instead of a cellophane sleeve or compostable PLA sleeve sourced from corn, I opted for NatureFlex cellulose film that’s made from wood pulp. They’re Certified Home Compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute, unlike PLA which can only be composted in a commercial facility.

  • Some of my prints come with a backing board to ensure their safe arrival. They are made of 100% recycled fibers and are curbside recyclable.

  • Every label is made on a thermal label printer, with curbside recyclable paper backings.

  • Rice-based paper with soy ink. Fully biodegradable or can be recycled with your package. Sometimes comes in a plastic film sleeve.

  • All envelopes are curbside recyclable. I am currently using up some older envelopes, but plan to replace them with FSC certified, post-consumer recycled ones once used.

  • These are 100% recycled with 90% post-consumer content, curbside recyclable, and naturally biodegradable.

  • Some items will be shipped in repurposed packaging. Try to find a way to give this item a second life if you can. Please refer to the individual package to see if there is a way to dispose of this item responsibly.

Hello! Here’s where you’ll find up-to-date information on all of my sustainable practices and eco-friendly materials. I’m always looking for new and better ways to improve my own process, so check back regularly with each purchase and subscribe to shop updates.

My goal is to be mindful of the products I choose to sell, how long they will last, and where they will end up. Online shopping can be wasteful— from polybags to tape that renders boxes unrecyclable, even clearly marked items can easily end up in a landfill. My goal is to have packaging that is going to protect your item in transit, is easy to dispose of, and won’t outlive you.

Packaging:

  • All printed materials are on FSC certified, 100% recycled paper. I currently use paper from Neenah’s Environment collection (100% post-consumer recycled) or Rollo Enviro paper. I select paper based on recyclable content, percent made from post-consumer waste, and the transport necessary to obtain it.

  • Some products use risograph printing, which is both energy efficient and uses biodegradable ink. While risograph printing is vibrant and beautiful, the nature of soy and rice bran-based inks make it prone to potential transfer or smudging. Your risograph print should stay in prime condition for decades. But to get the most out of your print, make sure to protect it with a frame or keep it away from fingerprints and heavy moisture.

  • These vinyl stickers are Greenguard Certified, which means they meet rigorous chemical emissions standards. I chose vinyl over paper because it is waterproof, dishwasher safe, durable, and perfect for customizing a reusable water bottle or laptop case. While these can’t be recycled, they should last a lifetime.

  • I print here in Philadelphia when possible. This helps reduce shipping emissions and support other local businesses.
